Warranty vs. Misuse

Modified on Sun, 14 Dec at 3:20 PM

An RMA case is strictly for products that fall under warranty. This is a crucial distinction that often leads to rejected claims.

What is Covered (Valid RMA)

Warranty coverage protects you against errors made by the manufacturer. These are faults inherent to the product itself.

  • Manufacturing Defects: Poor soldering, bad chips, or assembly errors that cause the product to fail out of the box or prematurely.

  • Malfunctioning Components: A ESC that wont turn on, a screen with dead pixels, or a battery that won't hold a charge (within normal limits).

  • Material Failure: Plastic casing cracking under normal thermal stress or buttons stopping to register clicks.

What is NOT Covered (User Misuse)

Warranties do not cover damage caused by external factors or human error. If the product failed because of how it was treated, an RMA will likely be denied.

  • Physical Damage: Dropping a transmitter and cracking the screen, or wrong doings during installation.

  • Liquid Damage: Spilling coffee on a device (unless it is ruggedized/waterproof rated).

  • Improper Usage: Usage beyond safe limits, using the wrong power adapter, or modifying the firmware (rooting/jailbreaking) in a way that causes hardware failure.

  • Wear and Tear: Scratches, dents, or normal battery degradation.
